A WORD FROM SIMMONE
Romancing the Stove...
Valentine’s Day is almost upon us, so if you are wanting to get to your man’s/lady’s heart through their stomach it’s time to get planning for optimum affect and luv–e–duv appeal!
Give these tips a go to turn your lover into a quivering, sentimental, soppy, romantic super hero.
Feast on fruits!
Bursting with fibre and antioxidants, and thought to be imbrued with aphrodisiac properties, many fresh fruits are as sensual as they are nutritious. This Valentine’s Day why not make a gorgeous fruit plate with cherries, peaches, strawberries, grapes and mangoes with a luscious and silky chocolate sauce for dipping? (Check out my exclusive recipe section for the dipping sauce!)
Devour delicious vegetables!
Asparagus, carrots, celery, corn, cucumbers have all bean prized for their aphrodisiac effects. Although it may be hard to think of them as being erotic, these earthy delights certainly invigorate the body with vitamins and minerals.
The avocado on the other hand is undeniably sensual – so much so that the Spanish conquistadores helped spread its reputation throughout the world as a powerful stimulant.
So if you and your lover are on a bit of a health kick (boring!) you could resort to this wonderfully spicy and piquant avocado mash accompanied by a platter of freshly cut and glistening, crunchy vegies bumped up along the side.
Savour fruits from the sea!
If you are feeling brave and really want to get things going, the oyster is your best bet to promote plenty of romance. Rich in zinc and iodine, freshly opened and slurped straight from the shell, this erotic little morsel needs no embellishment – so serve straight up with lemon. If you must!
